I am Bob Carver, and I started making tools for potters in 1997 in a one car garage in California. Lana Wilson (the great ceramic artist) wanted the perfect bevel cutter to make a perfect fit for her clay altar style boxes, and I made it for her. After a stint in Texas, I am now living in the Baltimore MD area, and I have a 3 bay workshop and a storage shed!  I still make all the tools myself (okay, my wife Lisa helps quite a bit).  These pottery tools are all hand crafted from exotic hardwoods from managed growth forests, with a finish that is perfect for withstanding the acids involved in what you all love to do...play with clay.

There's more than a bevel tool now (including the original for squares, one for triangular boxes, and even one for hexagonal boxes), and I hope you look around a little to see if something here strikes your fancy. Many of the designs have come from your fellow potters. There are pottery tools for those who use their clay in handbuilding, as well as those who use clay on the wheel, and love to throw.  If you don't see the tool you've been looking for, call or email me. I have been making custom tools for potters for over ten years. If you can describe it, I can probably make it.  Tool orders take about 2 weeks to be filled, so please be patient.  All of my tools come with a 100% guarantee, by the way.  This is a life time warranty...in the rare instance that something goes wrong with the tool, just mail it to me and I will fix it or replace it.

If you're looking for something for that special potter in your life, gift certificates are available .  The cart purchases are controlled by paypal, but ARE for credit card purchases.  You don't need to belong to paypal to use the credit card purchases through this site.  If you would prefer to pay by check or money order, click this link to go to the order page.  If you have a special order (a gift set for someone close, a modification on an existing tool, or a custom tool) you should email me (use the link on this page), or call me at 443 536-5705.

I have added a few pages of the fine craft and sculptural work I love to make. Please enjoy the site.
