Tools to shape clay

With a detachable blade that allows for easy sharpening, this tool is a dream if you use fluting in your work. You can cut the flutes while turning on the wheel, or carve them into finished clay bodies. Two flute shapes are possible, with a V shape cutting on the inside channel, and a rounded shape on the top end (outside). The blades are not cast, but are hand shaped by me. Various size flutes could be made, though the tool I sell is approximately 8" long, and 1 1/4" wide (across the blade).

I call this tool the clay scalpel, because of it's precision. It has a sharp, but strong, leading edge that can be used to cut, scrape and form a slab of clay, or to carve your object prior to the bisque firing. The entire tool can be used in modeling your clay. This tool looks and feels very comfortable, and everyone who uses it seems to love it. $10.00!

The clay pick is a favorite of Cynthia Bringle, who developed it. With beveled edges all around, this tool is useful for shaping and forming clay on both the wheel and handbuilding. It is 7" long and 2" wide. $10.00
